Riverhead Town Board debate

Come January, the Riverhead Town Board is assured to have at least one new member for the first time in six years.

On Monday night at Polish Hall, in a debate sponsored by the Riverhead News-Review and moderated by editors Grant Parpan and Joseph Pinciaro, the four candidates seeking the two council seats up for grabs made their pitch.

Republican incumbent James Wooten and first-time running mate Tim Hubbard joined Democratic challengers Neil Krupnick and Laura Jens-Smith to field questions on everything from EPCAL and downtown Riverhead to looming debt and water quality during the one hour debate. Candidates were given 90 seconds to answer each question with an optional 30 seconds of rebuttal.
