Meeting House Creek Inn

The Meeting House Creek Inn restaurant in Aquebogue is slated for some changes and possibly a new name and tenant.

Property owner Alex Galasso of Lighthouse Yacht Club is planning to close the restaurant on Labor Day for construction, which includes lifting the building located on Meetinghouse Creek Road and expanding the second floor as a way to ease the impact of future flooding.

On Thursday, the Riverhead Town Planning Board unanimously approved his final site plan. Mr. Galasso still needs a building permit before renovation work can begin.

If all goes according to plan, Mr. Galasso said after the meeting he believes construction will be completed in about eight months.

When asked for comment about the restaurant’s future name and plans, Mr. Galasso said he couldn’t comment at this time.

Tom Drake, who’s been the tenant of Meetinghouse Creek Inn for over 25 years, declined comment Friday.

Last September, Mr. Galasso told the Riverhead Town Board he’s seeking to renovate the property and find a new tenant, but declined to provide any further details.

At the time, Phil’s Restaurant in Wading River started advertising a move to the marina under the name Phil’s Waterfront Bar & Grill.

Phil’s owner, Phil Marcario, didn’t return phone calls Friday seeking comment.
