After four bomb threats were reported at Bishop McGann-Mercy and Riverhead High Schools in the month of January, a $5,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the people responsible for the threats.

Mercy evacuated the school on Jan. 14, 15, and 30 last month after calls were made to the school, and on one of those occasions — after students had been transported to Riverhead High School’s auditorium — a subsequent threat made to RHS forced students to evacuate that location as well.

Police noted in a statement released Friday morning that they are “seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the subjects who are responsible for numerous bomb threats.”

Anyone with information about the arrests is asked to call Suffolk County Crime Stoppers, which is offering the $5K reward, at 1-800-220-TIPS or Riverhead Police Department at 727-4500 ext. 332 or 327. All calls will be kept confidential.
