The Riverhead Town Board on Thursday discussed Supervisor Sean Walter’s proposal to prohibit elected officials from being on the executive committees of political parties.
Mr. Walter had asked the members of the town ethics board to be present a proposal for discussion at the public work session in Town Hall.
Currently, assessor Mason Haas, who is also the vice chairman of the town Republican committee and is expected to take over as chairman later this year, is the only elected official in town who would be affected by the measure.
News-Review reporter Tim Gannon reported live from the meeting.
